After being given a lesson in football Colchester Manager Geriant Williams had nothing but praise for the Peterborough side that dumped the poor U’s out of the FA Cup saying:

‘Peterborough were magnificent and they thoroughly deserved their win,’

‘We’ve worked very, very hard on defending set pieces but we conceded from one in the first few minutes.

‘Maybe it’s something in the players minds about Layer Road this season but whatever it is, we have to get to the bottom of it.’

Darren Ferguson who was delighted with his team and the result said:

‘It was a good performance,’

‘The game should have been over by half-time but the referee got them back into it but we had a great start to the second half.

‘It was a hell of a decision for the referee to give a penalty when there were a lot of bodies in the way but the performance was excellent.

‘We came to a Championship team and gave them a bit of a battering.’

I cannot argue with any of that!

He is right about Layer Road – the fans are not getting behind the team and so they are scared to play!

Well after last seasons good run of form at Layer Road it seems like we think we’re gonna win easily every home game, especially against the smalller teams.
