The Race To Replace – Update

Colchester United manager latest…

Lomas Keen To Make Step

Ex-West Ham midfielder Steve Lomas has revealed he is keen to make his first steps into football management, those being with the U’s.

Lomas, 34, has applied for the post at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, which was vacated by Geraint Williams a couple of weeks ago.

Lomas, who was released by Gillingham, before retiring earlier this year, is yet to hear whether he will be invited for an interview.

He told The Colchester Gazette: ‘I would be very interested.

‘Colchester is a great club and I`m looking to get into that side of things.

‘I see it as a good starting position.

‘Colchester United has a history of giving young managers a chance, like Phil Parkinson and Geraint Williams in the past.’

No U’s Move For Scott

Brentford have confirmed that the U’s have not made an approach for their manager, Andy Scott.

Scott, 36, has been linked to the U’s hot-seat in recent weeks.

However, chief executive David Heath said: ‘There has been no approach, but it’s a tribute to how well Andy is doing that he’s being linked with jobs elsewhere.’
