As 2009 draws to a close, Colchester United remain true to the season`s objective and are top-six challengers in League One this season. How has the year been for you, the fan?

You can comment below, but in a recent edition of the club`s matchday programme striker Clive Platt, midfielder David Fox and defender Marc Tierney all compiled an encouraging mid-term report which allows us to take a boot-room view.

We`ve got to be really pleased with how we`ve done so far ,” Marc Tierney said. The defender praised Aidy Boothroyd`s tactics, which has seen the side play with freedom and allowed he and John White to make dangerous attacking runs as full-backs.

Midfielder David Fox echoed Tierney`s thoughts but ruminated on the loss of Dean Hammond, saying it changed the dynamics of the midfield. Hammond, who was deployed defensively under old manager Paul Lambert, has since gone on to score more goals in Southampton colours.

Fox said: “The start was great with three wins out of three but it was a big couple of weeks with the manager and Dean leaving. We reacted well when the new manager came in and obviously we`ve pushed on since then.”

The final contributor, goal-getter Clive Platt , also showed confidence about what the club has achieved in the second part of his calendar year, the first-half on the season.

It`s gone quite well, our home form has been good and we`ve played some really good football,” he said.
