The Daily Mail and Watford Observer think Colchester United`s race to replace is all over – and has been for more than than 24 hours.
Both newspapers report that Aidy Boothroyd will announce a triumphant return to football tomorrow as U`s manager and that the news now simply awaits a rubber-stamping before confirmation from the club.
Boothroyd has long been linked with the post, since Paul Lambert sensationally leapfrogged north to Norwich City in August. The former Premiership boss with Watford has recently just fallen short of employment during interviews at Reading, Swansea and West Bromwich Alboin.
Following Vital Colchester`s article this morning, after a similar announcement in the Sun, the Mail says negotiations were finally concluded yesterday.
So what do you think?

VITAL COLCHESTER; YOUR VOICE, YOUR CHOICE!
VITAL COLCHESTER IS 100% UNOFFICIAL – FOR THE FANS, BY THE FANS!
Great news. What an appointment, Cowling said he wanted someone better than Lambert and I think they may have found him…
He’s at the JPT game tonight. All-but confirmed.
Yep, Aidy, Adiy, Aidy, Aidy Boothroyd!
Daily Mail and the Watford Observer, two bastions of British media! The Mail got Magilton for QPR spot on so maybe just maybe!
Haha, Boxer! Well, let’s hope so – would be delighted with the news if it turns out to be this.
More than just them reporting it tough…. Common knowledge now…
Must be, Steve, if, as you said, he is having pictures with CUFC fans already! Feel a lot better going to sleep tonight than the evening when all that Lambert exit stuff started. Feels like Christmas Eve!
