With three permenant signings so far in January, Colchester boss Aidy Boothroyd freely admitted that a number of players will be heading for a Weston Homes Community Stadium exit in the coming weeks.

A handful are out-of-favour, after failing to break into the U’s set-up and have seen their names circulated to other Football League clubs in the hope that a deal will materialise. Troublesome forward Jamie Guy, full-backs Matt Lockwood and Alan Maybury, along with want-away midfielder David Perkins all look set to leave if a deal suits the U’s.

‘I have got to balance the books. If I want to bring people in, then I’ve got to sell some as well,’ the former Watford manager explained, speaking to the EADT.

Since the start of the transfer window loan duo Kayode Odejayi and John-Joe O’Toole, as well as the versatile Ian Henderson have all penned full-time deals in North Essex. While, leading goalscorer Kevin Lisbie seems set to see out the season on loan with the U’s.

If those mentioned did all leave, I wouldn’t lose any sleep, although I would rather Perkins didn’t go to Southend (Its a matter of principal!!!)

Yeah, me too, they’re not needed, we have better, so may as well go basically! Up the U’s!

  • ooohhJohnnieJackson says:

I would also guess that Lockwood and Maybury are two of the higher earners aswell

  • StevieG Col U says:

Yeah, not sure about Maybury, but reckon Lockwood is on a tidy amount. Aslo with Baldwin going – he’s on good money – so that will free up some wages…
