Pat Baldwin has extended his Colchester United stay by putting pen to paper on a new deal.

Despite agreeing a the new deal a couple of weeks ago, click here, Baldwin signed on the dotted line yesterday. Although the length of the contract hasn’t been released, it is believed to be for a further two years.

Although Baldwin, one of last season’s most consistent players, received strong offers from other clubs he rejected them in favour of the U’s.

The former Chelsea trainee told the official website: ‘I agreed to sign a few weeks ago now and it has just been a case of ironing out the final details.

Baldwin, 26, is confident of the U’s squad’s strength ahead of the new campaign.

‘I think we’ve got a great squad of players here and I am raring to go this season,’ he added.

Vital Colchester would like to congratulate Pat on his new deal and hopes he will continue to perform at such a high standard.
