Transfer News: Odejayi Says O’Kay’ To U’s Switch

Championship striker Kayode Odejayi has joined Colchester United on loan for an initial three-months.

The 6ft 3in Barnsley forward arrives at Weston Homes Community Stadium to bolster Aidy Boothroyd’s U’s attacking options. However, with six strikers already on the U’s roster, the signing of the big target-man could confirm the exit of one, or more, of them.

New-Red’s boss Mark Robins told the club’s official website: ‘Kayode needs to kick start his career. He will go to Colchester for an initial three months and we will take it from there’.

Odejayi, a Nigerian international cap, made a name for himself with Cheltenham Town.

Some impressive performances for the Robins earned him a £200,000 move to Barnsley, in 2007, however, he has failed to find the net regularly. Arguably his finest moment in a Tykes shirt saw him claim the winner in a FA Cup clash with footballing giants Chelsea, the season before last.

Vital Colchester would like to welcome Kayode to the U’s and wish him the best of luck in his time here.

Heres hoping he proves more useful than the last Nigerian front-man to join the U’s… (Sorry, Sunday!)
