Transfer News: Striker Goes Out On Loan

COLCHESTER UNITED have allowed striker Scott Vernon to leave the Weston Homes Community Stadium on loan.

The news comes after Paul Lambert swooped to sign fellow forward Karl Hawley on a temporary basis, so its a case of one in and one out for the U’s. Vital Colchester reported this, to read the article, click here.

The 25-year-old ex-Blackpool front-runner will spend a month at Sixfields after failing to hit top-form for the U’s this season.

Speaking about the move, Vernon said: ‘I am happy to go and play some games, really. That’s the top and bottom of it, because I am not playing enough here at the moment, so it can’t do me or the club any harm.’

Vernon, who scored the U’s last ever goal at Layer Road and first at the WHCS, added: ‘It has been a mixed season on a personal level. I have not hit the form that I can show and I feel that I haven’t played enough games. I am the type of player who needs the games to get a run going, so this move will suit me.’

Despite Vernon failing to find the net on a regular basis this season, he has cult status among a number of fans due to his classy double against fierce local-rival’s Ipswich last season.

Vital Colchester would like to wish Scott the best of luck in his time with the Cobblers.

So has Vernon played his last game in a U’s shirt?
