Transfer Rumour: Easter Readying Return?

Colchester United`s search for a new striker is still ongoing, but might Monday`s paper talk confirming the Essex side are interested in a Championship namemean Jermaine Easter rejoins the club?

The former Wycombe Wanderers striker spend time with United last season, only to suffer a ligament injury before vowing after recovery that an Argyle starting place was still possible.

But, with United stepping up their search and club manager Paul Lambert a known Easter fan, speculation of a return is rife.

Vital Colchester have also reported conjecture on the strong counter-targets to sign, including transfer-listed Ruben Reid from Rotherham, profile here, and former Southend player and Dagenham & Redbridge man, Paul Benson, profile here.

The Colchester Gazette reporting that Colchester are tracking a Championship forward appears to rule out both Reid and Benson and point to someone like Easter. He scored twice in five games last season for the U`s before his injury.

Paul Lambert is looking for competion for current front four, Jamie Guy, Scott Vernon, Clive Platt and Steve Gillespie.

Would Easter be ideal again for the U’s?
