U’s boss Paul Lambert confirmed on Friday that Medy Elito has no future at Colchester United, so will former fan and manager Geraint Williams take a chance on the player at Leyton Orient?

Elito, still a teenager, was reportedly shown around the Manchester United training complex and given Champions League tickets to watch Sir Alex Ferguson`s side in 2006.

The Red Devils were waiting to snap up the winger many tipped to become the next Lomana Lualua, according to the People newspaper.

Now, following speculation about his attitude to training and poor time-keeping at the club, Paul Lambert has confirmed after a dire season that Elito is free to leave the club he chose over Manchester United.

“I don’t want players here who are just in the comfort zone. Whether they (Ifil and Elito) will go depends on whether their agents are any good,” said Lambert on Friday.

Elito is an England youth international and was supported during his big first-team break at the end of the 2007/8 season by former U`s boss, Geraint Williams.

Williams is known to be concerned at the lack of bodies in his squad, as despite one signing, they currently have a only 14 players.

The cash-strapped O`s could also look at taking Elito on loan.

Deal Likelihood? 7/10

What do you think? Could Elito join the O’s?

Think we could regret letting him go for good – a loan deal would be good for him IMO.

This was pure speculation and I’d just like that to be noted on here. I think he could very well go to LO, but I’d like to see a journlaist ask that question. Get him out on loan. I don’t know why other fanzines feel they need to jump on this and say he has been released. He hasn’t, yet – Lambert just said he won’t stand in his way.

On Wiki it says he could go to Orient!

Actual it was a bit more than not stading in Elito’s or Ifil’s way; more like that they are no longer welcome at the club! The fact that circulars were send reminded me of that Micheal Owen report on the Guardian website about his PR company pruding a vrochure all about him. Lambert has clear ideas about who he wants at the football club. But for the record, Elito is still at Colchester United.

Like these pages, anyone can edit wiki, of course. I saw that myself beforehand and thought there might be something in it, and of course worth reporting. Just not liking the poor accuracy of that report, given that this website is the first to carry the story, which means it is responsible in part for the information taken on by other webspaces.

** of another report on a different fanzine.

    Yeah, has annoyed me!

    This isn’t going to happen….!
