COLCHESTER UNITED could appear to be one of a handful of clubs monitoring the situation of Dagenham & Redbridge contract rebel Magnus Okuonghae.

Okuonghae, of Nigerian descent, ran away with the club’s player of the year award after a hugely impressive season at Victoria Road. The 23-year-old’s form has earned him a number of admirers from League One and the Championship.

And with Okuonghae recently rejecting a new deal, Sky Sports.com reports that he is heading for The Daggers exit door.

U’s manager Paul Lambert is keen to strengthen his backline ahead of next season’s promotion bid and, after being linked with Okuonghae in January, a move could be imminent.

Despite, as previously mentioned, that Okuonghae’s contract expires this summer, due to his age, a compensation package will have to be agreed between the Daggers and any potential employers.

The 6ft 3in centre-half’s representative Uben Gray said: ‘We can confirm that Magnus has rejected his latest contract offer, and we are now in talks with other clubs.’

So is Okuonghae a player YOU would like to see arrive at the WHCS?
