COLCHESTER UNITED new-boy Neal Trotman has revealed that when playing he tries to keep things as simple as possible.

The big centre-half has made an impressive start to life at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, putting in a man-of-the-match performance against league-leaders Leicester City. After only signing on Thursday, on a month’s loan, Trotman was a rock in the heart of the U’s defence in Saturday’s 1-1 draw.

Speaking to the EADT, he said: ‘This is a good chance for me. In fact, I jumped at the chance to join Colchester, especially after looking at the fixture list.’

Trotman also revealed about how ex-U’s defender Liam Chilvers had good things to say about the North Essex club.

Chilvers moved to Deepdale, after rejecting a new contract with the U’s, on a free transfer a couple of seasons ago.

Trotman commented: ‘So I decided it would be good for me to go out on loan. Liam Chilvers told me that it would be a good place to come and play some football.’

On Sunday Vital Colchester reported of how impressed U’s chief Paul Lambert was of Trotman’s debut, to read the article, click here.

The former Oldham man concluded about how he doesn’t try to complicate things when playing.

He added: ‘It’s good to hear the manager say these nice things about me, but basically I just try and keep things simple on the pitch. I don’t try and complicate things.’

So what do you think of Trotman? Do you like his playing style?
