Colchester, despite the draw with Swindon on Tuesday that left things out of our hands, pulled off League 1 survival this afternoon with a one-nil win over Preston who missed out to MK Dons automatically as a result.
No offence to Preston, who I’m sure we’ll now wish well with the play-offs, but our survival was of great important to our so out one-nil win, which can even though we had missed a penalty through Chris Porter that looked like it could cost us, thanks to George Moncur’s late goal kept us up!
Victory, which coupled with other results, keeps us in League 1 and we’ll now be looking to build on the momentum we’ve built in recent weeks next season, and given the talent we’ve got coming through I’d back us to do so….
On a dramatic final day, at both ends of the table, a Leyton Orient draw, Crawley and Notts County defeats mean that these three join Yeovil in dropping into League 2 next season.
