Colchester United yesterday saw a £200,000 bid for 18-year-old forward Ray Jones snubbed by QPR.

The U`s are considering making an improved bid for the player who scored against them on New Year`s Day and is reportedly seen by manager Geraint Williams as the ideal replacement for the departed Chris Iwelumo.

Jones, who was called one of the club`s “best players” by QPR`s s chairman Gianni Paladini on the Hoops official website, would apparently be for sale for “the right price”.

He was used mostly from the bench last season and is expected to challenge for a first-team place this season, having signed a new contract in January this year.

Presumably QPR have an idea of the amount you will get for JC?

That is a good point. If the U’s re-bid, I think it should be 350 K. But that would be a lot of money for us!
