Colchester United`s former Tottenham and Southampton defender Phil Ifil is ready to be a first-team regular after playing bit-part roles elsewhere during his so far brief career.
The 21-year-old wants to make the right back birth at Colchester his own following his undisclosed move from Premier League giants Spurs and has already admitted that the presence of his former team-mates Johnnie Jackson and Mark Yeates has helped him settle at Layer Road.
He said on the club`s official website: “This is a lovely club, and I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing regularly in the Championship.
“The training has been good and it has been interesting in getting to know somewhere else other than Tottenham.
“Football is football and I have always enjoyed it. I will prepare for games in the same way and make sure that I give my all.”

U’s have got yourself a good looking player, saints fans where a little disapointed that saints didnt stump up the money to get him on a perminant basis.
He has a good touch and can pass a ball however if he has one weekness it is in the air.
Well he seems a good player, he just needs to concentrate 100%.
Spurs fans have said the same so let’s hope the hype is all right!
