Colchester United loanee Izale McLeod will have an X-ray on his knee today, after picking up an injury in the U`s 4-1 defeat to Plymouth last night.

McLeod, on loan from Charlton, replaced Scott Vernon just after the hour mark but was stretchered off after receiving lengthily treatment on the pitch. The 23-year-old front-man travelled back to North Essex with the rest of the players and is booked in to have a scan today.

U’s phisio Tony Flynn told CU-FC.com: ‘Izale travelled back with us because nothing would have been done in a hospital down in Plymouth until the morning anyway.’

‘He is already booked in to have a scan and X-rays in the morning in Essex and once we get the results of those, we will have a better idea of what damage there is to Izale’s knee.’ He explained.

Flynn also said: ‘It looked an innocuous challenge but Izale told me he felt his knee twist when he was fouled and it was safer to get him immobilised before the stretcher took him off.’

U’s boss Williams added: ‘It’s not looking good. His knee is very sore.’

The U’s are already missing a number of key figures so fingers-crossed the injury is not as bad as first thought.
