Colchester United, along with Stockport County, are reported to have had a bid accepted for Rochdale’s David Perkins.
It is rumoured that the bids were of £150,000 pound. County are already reported to have held talks with Perkins but have been unable to meet his wage demands, possibly pathing the way for a move to the U’s.
Perkins, 26, is a left-back, who can also play in midfield. He started out with Morecambe, making over 170 appearances for them. In January 2007 he signed for The Dale, last season he helped them reach the play-off final where they lost to Stockport.
Rochdale boss Keith Hill told the club’s official website: ‘David is one of the best players in the 2nd division so there were always going to be rumours about him.
‘He has been and still is a credit to this football club. He is an awesome player and it does not surprise me that he has been attracting the attention of other clubs.
‘I will also say that he is going into the final year of his contract. He is a very good player who was given his opportunity by Rochdale Football Club and has flourished in this environment.
‘He has had a lot of time to catch up on and I know him very well and he is very ambitious. At this moment in time he is a Rochdale player and unless that changes he is training with us tomorrow.’

Well I think he will be used in midfield if he joins!
He would be a good signing. Just needs to sort out his disciplinary problems.
