Colchester United are one of a number of clubs keen on Cheltenham Town’s Ashley Vincent.
The winger-cum-striker is also a target for League Two outfit Brentford, however, League One high-fliers MK Dons are thought to be leading the race. The Robins are currently trying to tighten finances and look set lose a number of stars.
Despite currently being sidelined, due to a knee injury, for the next month or so, it looks as though Vincent will leave before reaching full-fitness.
Town manager Martin Allen told the club’s official website: ‘We’ve had enquiries from several clubs. He’s been told about the interest in him.
‘We’ll see how that evolves but it looks like he’ll be leaving. He has got real pace and a scoring record of one in three this season.’
Allen also revealed that the 23-year-old has rejected the offer of a new deal to stay at Whaddon Road.
He added: ‘I wanted to keep him and tried to persuade him to stay but he turned down the new deal we offered him and he has the chance to earn more money by joining another club.’
Vincent has netted six goals for The Robins this current campaign.
So is Vincent a good potential signing? Or would you like to see someone else bought in?

VITAL COLCHESTER; YOUR VOICE, YOUR CHOICE!
VITAL COLCHESTER IS 100% UNOFFICIAL – FOR THE FANS, BY THE FANS!
Not exactly the goalscorer we need is he?!
Na, not what we’re after really but have gotta trust Lambert…
He’s not that great in my opinion. But he’s on the cheap and therefore probably worth a look.
.. I’d say that we should loan him only. That’s all!
Well any deal would be a loan till the end of the season, with a permanent transfer possible…
Well Sunday and Guy don’t seem to figure in Lamberts plans so a loan with an agreed future transfer would certainly be the ideal scenario. I would rather us target someone with a proven goalscoring record, maybe someone who has scored a few at league 2 or conference level. Might be worth taking a punt at someone like Morrison at Stevenage.
23. Out of contact this summer. Actaully, just get him for a nominal fee, and take a look!
Quite like the look of Morrison, has scored a number of goals at that level. Na, Guy and Sunday wont be here next season, will be an interesting summer for sure….
