U’s Lodge Platt Appeal

Colchester United have officially launched an appeal against the suspension handed to Clive Platt following his red card during the friendly against Bolton Wanders last weekend.

Platt`s suspension, brandished automatically after an elbow on Lubomir Michalik, could be reduced from the mandatory three competitive matches due to a recommendation made by referee’s chief Keith Hackett.

His advice comes after U`s manager Geraint Williams consulted Hackett, and the team of officials, about the reasoning behind the dismissal, which was as a shock to those watching.

Upon appeal, therefore, Colchester are now hopeful that the ban, which would see the club`s record signing of all time miss matches against Sheffield United, Barnsley and Shrewsbury Town.
