Elliott Parish, previously with Blackpool and Bristol City, could make a move to Colchester this summer with him currently another of those that we’re taking a look at in a trial capacity.

Parish doesn’t have too much to prove as such, as he’s proven his ability at this level and Championship too, with the free agent currently training with us as ‘a favour’ as Tony Humes put it with what he told the Gazette.

Some cover is needed with Sam Walker recovering from his knee injury from last season and our other ‘keeper James Bransgrove set to be missing until September after a knee injury of his own, so Parish could offer this with Humes happy to give him a chance.

‘Elliot has come in and done us a favour.

‘The goalkeeper position is definitely an area that we need to be aware of, should we feel that we need to bring anyone else in.

‘Elliot has decent experience and he was playing Championship football, last season. It’s about having opportunities and options, should we need them.’

Parish was contracted to Blackpool last season, featuring at times in their Championship season, but following relegation he was one of a number of players released.

He wouldn’t be a bad signing but with Walker our no.1 Parish is likely to play second fiddle to him isn’t he and I’m not sure he’ll want to be doing that?
