Colchester United striker Jamie Guy has joined Oxford United on loan.

Guy, 20, will stay at the Kassam Stadium, with the Blue Square Premier outfit, for a season, as he looks to get his career back on track. Guy, who was recently charged with drink-driving, had stated to the media that he was looking for a fresh start. Vital Colchester reported this, to read the article click here.

After bursting on to the scene in the U’s record-breaking Championship season, Guy found opportunities limited last term.

Guy, who rejected a loan move to Crewe in in the second-half of last season, had been linked with a permanent move away. The Barking-born 6ft 1in front-man had previously has loan spells with Cambridge United and Ebbsfleet United.

Yellows’ manager Darren Patterson told the club’s official website: ‘Jamie is a player I have admired for a long time.

‘He has always excelled against our reserves and I’ve seen him play at first team level where he has looked the part as well.

‘He has a great work rate, scores goals and with James Constable and Yemi already here we have good options up front.’

The deal will be completed subject to clearance of paperwork by the footballing authorities.

Vital Colchester would like to wish Jamie the best of luck with Oxford this coming season.

He should be a good striker at Blue Square Premier, i’m surprised that he has joined a club outside of the league

I Think Its A Case Of Puttin Him Back In His Place And Make Him Release Who He Is , Also If His A Failure In The Blue Square Premier League Then We Should Offload Him Surely, Least He’l Be On Tv Moree With Oxford (Setanta Sports)

  • StevieG Col U says:

Well at that level he should score a few, and hopefully come back a better player!
