Colchester United have reportedly offered terms to out-of-contract Bournemouth star Danny Hollands.

Hollands, who impressed last season as the Cherries were narrowly relegated to League Two, has also been linked to the U’s League One rivals Millwall. Despite being out-of-contract at Dean Court, the 22-year-old would require a compensation fee as he is under the age of 23.

The Daily Echo is reporting that Bournemouth are believed to have slapped a £120,000 price-tag on Hollands.

Speaking to The Daily Echo, Cherries’ boss Kevin Bond said: ‘We’re talking to Danny and I just hope that he commits his future to us.

‘I know there is interest from other clubs but I just hope he decides to stay. He hasn’t indicated to me that he wants to leave.

‘We rate him highly and have offered him a contract that reflects that.’

Hollands started out with Chelsea as a trainee, turning professional in 2003. He captained the Chelsea Youth Team and their reserve side. In March 2006, he joined Torquay United on loan and went on to feature ten times for them. In the close season he was released by Chelsea and put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal with Bournemouth.

The versatile midfielder could well be seen as a replacement for U’s man Mark Yeates who the U’s face a difficult task in keeping.

So is he a replacement for Yeates? Or will he just add competition for places? We want to know YOUR thoughts?

Hollands is primarily a central midfielder and we don’t need any more of them-Jackson, Hammond, Izzet and Wordsworth are surely enough.

Yeah a centre-midfielder by trade but can operate down the right, whether he could play their full-time or not i don’t know? I think Wordsworth would be gooder enough for cover, unless Williams is planning to ship him out on loan or get rid of crap Izzet.

Or A Replacement For Yeates Maybe? As Elito Has Be Told His The Main Left Winger

If we want to achieve promotion at the first time of asking we should buy players and play them in their preferred position i.e buy a winger and play them there, not buy a central midfielder and put them out on the wing because they can play there-we wouldnt see the best form the player has to offer surely?

I think quite a few clubs have been linked with Hollands. With Bournemouths cash problems I am sure you could knock down the price a bit!

    sign him up

  • StevieG Col U says:

Well he had been touted as a replacement for Yeatesy, but if Williams is wanting him as a central-midfielder than I don’t think we’re in need of one.

Every Year Is The Same , We Have To Rebuild , Maybe He Could Of Kept The Team The Same For A Year And Brought In Few Defenders , I Think We’re In Need Of A Change , Especially As Williams Said He Wanted To Quit During The Year
