UNITED have countered speculation connecting Clive Platt with a possible transfer to Norwich City.

Assistant manger, Ian Culverhouse, says such talk is completely untrue in today’s Colchester Gazette: “Clive isn`t going anywhere.

“He`s an integral part of our plans for the new season.”

The U`s want two new forwards before next season and are probably prepared to let at least one of either Scott Vernon or Jamie Guy leave.

Platt, however, a £300,000 signing from MK Dons, looks set to stay.

  • Where are the other strikers, then… and if the ones we have are that good, we don’t need anymore!

  • No point in letting him go. We need a target man and if we let him go we would have to pay more than we get to find a replacement that wouldnt be any better! Target men seem to be at a bit of a premium.
