The eagerly anticipated transfer of Nolberto Solano has not been finalised, despite earlier reports saying the former Newcastle, Aston Villa & West Ham utility man had already joined.
The experienced Peruvian is to have another trial before any deal can be agreed, Vital Colchester now understands, following yesterday`s report on the site that the deal may already have been struck.
Manager Aidy Boothroyd told the U`s official website: “Those reports are a little premature. We still retain a strong interest in Nobby and we are still talking to him, but no deal has been signed yet.“
Common sense, should the 35-year-old link up with Colchester, says any agreement will need to be short-term.
Fans and members of the media have continued to speculate that completion of this deal may have implications for the yes-no-maybe saga surrounding Kevin Linbie`s medium-term future.
