Colchester United’s reserves brushed aside Peterborough last night, in the final ever game at Layer Road.
A crowd of 471 watched the U’s say a final goodbye to their historic ground. Senior players Kevin Watson, Luke Guttridge, Danny Granville, Mark Cousins and Kevin McLeod all started for the U’s.
Prolific young striker Tom Webb opened the scoring, firing home after latching onto Granvilles’ pass. Ex-Southend man Guttridge put the U’s two up, lobbing home from the edge of the area. Substitute Fabian Quintyn put the game out of Posh’s reach, cleverly finishing to make it 3-0.
Quintyn will go down in the record books as scorer of the last ever goal Layer Road.

Bit of a stupid stat because it is a reserve game, but it counts for Quintyn becuase the U’s didn’t hit the net last weekend.
Yeah well done to the reserves, pleased to get a win at Layer road in the last ever, ever game!
