Andy Bond has pledged to jump from non-league Barrow boy and into the competitiveness of League One football after completing a free transfer.

The highly commended midfielder, 25, previously failed to graduate from youth level at Crewe Alexandra and almost reached the ton appearance-mark for Barrow in the Conference before rejecting their last contract offer.

Bond has been awarded two-year terms and must cover the recently departed David Fox, now at Norwich and David Prutton, who left for Swindon.

The U`s reportedly fought off competition from a Championship team to snatch Bond`s signature.
