Colchester United have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Nigerian striker Akanni-Sunday Wasiu.

Wasiu, who was a free agent, had impressed while on trial with the U’s, scoring three goals in as many games. The powerful front-man had also been looked at by League Two sides Brentford and Bournemouth but the U’s have managed to get their man.

The 24-year-old spent time with St Albans last season and will help fill the void left by Kevin Lisbie, who has joined Ipswich Town.
