U’s Squeeze The Pips

As we understand things, an offer of compo has been made by Hull, but was deemed insufficient and by some stretch if they want Parky as their manager anytime soon.

The Tigers admitted to making an approach for Parkinson after Colchester secured a temporary injunction preventing the 38-year-old from walking out on the club he led to promotion from League One last season.

Colchester chairman Peter Heard signalled the route that the club was to take when he refused to accept Parkinson’s resignation in the first instance.

Col U’s Official Site carries the following statement…

‘In view of the statement on the Hull City website, issued following the grant to Colchester of an injunction temporarily restraining Mr Parkinson from entering into negotiations with any third party, the board wishes to make it clear they have not received an offer of ‘generous’ compensation, although a modest offer of compensation was made.’

‘The injunction was only applied for against the threat that Hull City would simply proceed to attempt to conclude negotiations with Mr Parkinson and await the outcome of any future tribunal.

‘In light of that threat, the board consider that with regret it had no alternative but to seek an injunction which will have the effect either of retaining Mr Parkinson’s services or enabling a breathing space for meaningful negotiations to ensue.’

What a kerfuffle.

Would Hull have rolled over as they are expecting Col U to, if the boot was on the other foot? Hasn’t Parky and any prospective employer got to face up to the subject of significant compo? He was at Col U on a contract – not a handshake!
