Colchester United are reportedly ready to pay £400,000 to make midfielder John-Joe O’Toole’s loan move a permanent one.

Aidy Boothroyd initially agreed a four-month loan deal for O’Toole, an Irish U-21 international, a spell which is set to expire in January. Despite not setting the world alight during his time at the Community Stadium so far, the 20-year-old has been a consistent performer in the centre-of-midfield.

And now national paper, The Daily Mirror, is reporting that O’Toole’s parent club Watford are hoping to cash in on the highly-rated youngster to fuel a bid for Plymouth forward Jason Puncheon.

Although £400,000 is a fair bit of money at League One level, I firmly believe that it could prove a shrewd move with O’Toole yet to hit top form.

I expect we might be able to prize him away for a little less than that!

Well – depends on a lot of things TBH. One being how long his contract has to run. Have heard a lot of negative comments but, he’s a player who scored eight goals in half a season at Championship level, so I do think if he gets couple of goals he might go on a bit of a run. Onwards + Upwards!

I’d be happy if the club spent about that, back Aidy and take a good young asset on good contarct. If you managed to offer something like £250 and get away with it, I’d be delighted!

So would I! £250????????????? That certainly would be a bargain! *Hopes Matt realises his typo!*

  • Matt_Us says:

*Haha, now sees the typo and hopes Watford make the same mistake!*
