Vital U`s brings you a selection of quotes from both sides after United`s league loss against Tranmmere last night. It was the club`s first loss of 2009. The R’s picked up a first away win in seven games.

“We didn’t deserve to get anything out of this game. Tranmere deserved to win. But you can’t be too critical of the lads because of what they have achieved recently, and I’m sure that we will bounce back.”

League One Manager of the Month, U`s boss Paul Lambert, gives his reaction in the East Anglian Daily Times.

“I`m pleased that we got the win and it`s a win that had been coming. We played really well and I thought that we deserved our victory. I hope that this result sends out a message to the rest of the teams around us because I still believe that we`re a match for anyone at this level.”

Opposing manager, Ronnie Moore now believes Rovers will kick-on up the table, according to the Liverpool Daily Post.

“They played good football, and we matched them at times, but it was just our end-product in the final third. Confidence was quite high before the game – I couldn’t really see us losing. Credit to them, they played well.”

Jamie Guy, who could have leveled the scoring with moments to go after coming on as a sub, tells BBC Essex that the best side won.

ooohhJohnnieJackson says:

Guy and Platt to start next game. Vernon just didn’t look up to the job. Him and Yeates dangling a leg at opponents rather than make a proper tackle. Guy has the pace to get on the end of Platts flick on’s.

  • Matt_Us says:

That pretty much leaves Steven Gillespie in no-man’s land! Guy deserves a start, and perhaps with Yeates off him – maybe even Elito? What has happened to Medy this season? Platt is used for obvious reasons, but Guy should get a run of games sooner rather than later.

  • StevieG Col U says:

Well, hope Gilly can get himself fit and not pick up another injury. Thought Platt and Vernon were both quite poor last night, at least when Guy came on he looks like he’s trying a bit more, and has that bit of pace. Well, Matt, just don’t think Medy is a ‘Lambert Style’ player.

  • Matt_Us says:

.. maybe Medy will be back. Could do with going on loan somewhere. A fir Gilly and Guy up-from would be an intersting to see!

  • StevieG Col U says:

Well, I think Lambert would be willing to allow Medy, Ifil and people go out on loan like Locky, Sunday and Dean have. Up the U’s!
