It would appear that Colchester United have positioned themselves as Kevin Lisbie`s fall-back option should he fail to secure himself a Championship suitor next season.

The experienced former Charlton and U`s man has expressed a preference to play at the highest level possible and could head for Southampton or Millwall amongst other possible destinations.

According to United manager, John Ward, he is waiting to talk to the striker and will have the job of persuading him that the time is right for Lisbie to rejoin for his third spell.

Ward told the Evening Gazette that nothing has been decided, with any move for the Ipswich player still very much “in the balance.”
