It could have been so much better for Colchester but John Ward was still happy with the draw against Huddersfield at the weekend.

A missed penalty and an injury-time own goal meant that The U’s had to settle for a point and whilst Ward of course had some disappointment he could not fault another ‘fantastic effort’ from his side: ‘there were a lot of really good things and I’m disappointed for my team because I know how hard they work.

‘It’s another exciting game here and we’ve just played the top three in our division and we’ve been exceptionally close to all of them.

‘We’ve not lost to any of them and it was another fantastic effort in a short space of time from my relatively small group of players.’
