Colchester United have signed a 10 Year deal said to be worth £2 million with Essex Based property developer Weston Homes who’s name will emblazon the Home Shirts for the season 2008/2009
Weston Homes founder and chairman Robert Weston is delighted to have got on board with the U’s and their partners in the stadium project.
Speaking to the Colchester official site he siad: ‘It is an honour to be announced as the sponsor of Colchester United and we are excited to be actively involved with such a revered Football League club.
‘We aim to be a big part of the Colchester community not only through our sponsorship and support of Colchester United but also through the social and economic initiatives we have begun to undertake.
‘We intend to grow the strength of the community by providing high standard homes, commercial opportunities that support up and coming businesses and many more youth-oriented initiatives.
‘Our sponsorship of Colchester United’s stadium is the beginning of many more things to come.’

It is gettting knocked down!
Sad when that happens – so much history and memories for the fans – whatever the club.
Well we needed to leave Layer Road if we wanted to move forward, is sad though.
