Will U`s See Spurs Inductee Sheri?

“He is a rare beast. He managed to pull on a Premiership shirt at the age of 40, he was 33 when he won his first league title with Manchester United, and 31 when Sir Alex signed him. Football in the 21st century isn’t particularly conducive to long playing careers; it’s hard to imagine another centre forward pulling on a shirt in the top flight at 40.” – Gabby Logan, 11th April 2008, on Teddy Sheringham.

Teddy Sheringham will be inducted into Tottenham Hotspur Hall of Fame in May, it was confirmed earlier this month by the Premier League club. Yet, there remains a doubt over whether the 41-year-old striker will be fit enough to pull on a Colchester United shirt again before he retires in four weeks.

Sheringham will be ordained at the end of Tottenham`s 125th anniversary year but has not featured in a match for Colchester since he was prematurely substituted in February, against Preston.

In recent weeks he has been suffering with a toe injury but has appeared on TV’s A Question of Sport.

Colchester United reveled last week that they are confident that the former Manchester United player, who has featured eighteen times for the U`s since his summer move, will be fit enough to make a final cameo before hanging up his boots.
