Colchester United manager Geraint Williams believes U’s youngster Medy Elito ‘seems to be learning well’.

Eltio, 17, made his U’s debut away to Plymouth and since then has featured in ten games, starting the last six. The left winger’s rise to the U’s first team has not gone unnoticed, with Newcastle and Liverpool reportedly keen.

Williams told the The Colchester Gazette: ‘Medy’s a young man and he seems to be learning well.

‘The main thing that gives a player confidence is being picked.’

The U’s boss continued: ‘Once you’re picked, it’s up to you to go out and perform and make sure that you’re picked the next time.

‘The thing about football is that every time you go out over the white line you have to do well to stay in the team.’
