Colchester United manager Geraint Williams admitted, after the U’s 5-1 hammering at home to Coventry, that he wanted the U’s defenders to suffer… just like he and the fans were!
‘I could have made more changes in the second half to be honest the way we were defending,’ he told the EADT.
‘But I wanted our defenders to suffer like I was, like the fans were, so I left them on to suffer.
‘It’s the story of our season. We have had three one-on-ones and scored from none of them and we’ve had more shots on target than Coventry and lost 5-1,’ Williams rued.
The U’s record signing Chris Coyne also told the EADT: ‘I’ve only been here since January, but apparently it’s been like this all season.
‘We are deeply disappointed. We said we wanted to play for pride but what do fans think after a result like this?

Good to see Scotty Vernon get on the score sheet!
Yeah well I feel he’ll be a great signing! If he plays regulary should get 20 in L1 next season! Super Scotty Vernon…!!!!!!!
Perhaps it was only right!
Would you like Darren Kenton him and Heath together……..
Well Heath wans’t playing, which was one of the reasons for the bad defence!
… he said hopefuly as it looking like Heath is coming back! Do the U’s lack passion, or skill, or what??
Dunno just cant defend
