Colchester United manager Geraint Williams has admitted that everyone at Layer Road is playing for their futures: management, staff and players…

Speaking to The Colchester Gazette, he said: ‘We’re all playing for our futures – management, staff and players.

‘We know that, but it’s always been the same in football.

‘In football, if you’ve had a bad run as a manager you’re sacked,’ Williams added.

With the U’s relegation to League One confirmed, Williams will now decide which U’s players feature in his plans… and which do not!

He continued: ‘As a player, you could find yourself out of the side, not get back in and then not have your contract renewed.

‘Between now and the end of the season, decisions will have to be made.

‘That’s an on-going thing and we’re looking at the squad and thinking about where it needs strengthening.’
