Homegrown U’s midfielder Anthony Wordsworth has finally completed his long-running transfer saga by signing a two and a half year deal with East Anglian rivals, Ipswich.

The ‘will he, won’t he’ speculation has been persistent throughout the move, with rumours rife over reported moves to both Charlton and Ipswich.

It is believed that the 24-year old midfielder has moved to Portman Road for a fee in the region of £100-200,000, though the figure remains undisclosed from both parties.

Woody has been suspended for the U’s in recent weeks having collected ten bookings for the season, and was widely expected to complete his move having served the second of that two-game suspension.

Perhaps his heart has not completely been in it with the U’s in recent months, but he has certainly showed his quality in his time at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

He departs Joe Dunne’s side on 199 appearances for the U’s, and netted thirteen times under John Ward last season.
