Wycombe Wonders have turned down a bid from Colchester United today for stopper Mike Williamson.
The U`s launched a six-figure bid for the 25-year old former Tranmere and Southampton man, who could have been tempted to move by the prospect of reuniting with ex-boss Paul Lambert.
But Wycombe rejected the bid this afternoon, claiming it as identical to an offer made for the player in November 2008.
Williamson has been a regular for Colchester`s former rivals Wanders this season, and has also scored three goals for the League Two side, who are fast becoming the division`s runaway leaders.
It remains to be seen whether Colchester will improve their undisclosed bid as they look to bolster a defence with more names since Friday`s full-time acquisition of Marc Tierney.

Well, it had been rumoured we were after him. No surprise that Lambert is going back to his former club.
Not at all. Going for players he knows well!
