Departed winger, Mark Yeates, has said promotions for both Middlesbrough and Colchester would make a fantastic season.

“I wouldn`t be surprised if they went up next season and I would be delighted if that were to happen,” the winger said in local paper, the Colchester Gazette, this week. Colchester are currently at 9/2 to gain promotion next season; they kick off with an away trip to Norwich.

Yeates, although now focused on achieving promotion from the Championship for the side he just joined, will be following United`s results next season.

He added: “If Colchester can get back into the Championship it would be an extra boost for everyone.

For Middlesbrough and Colchester to both go up next year would be the perfect season for me.”

Williams will replace Dean Gerken at United, who moved to Bristol City last week.

Will both Boro and Colchester gain promotion in 2009/10?

When players move on, they don’t always leave on good terms, or they don;t say much when they leave. But the fact that Yeatesy has done so, tells us what he has said is actually true, and with his performances, he will always be a fans favourite. I hope he does well at Boro!

So do I, would love to see him tearing up the Premier League, dont think it will happen but we will see!

Yeah I dobt it as well. I have have previously sai,d if they go up, he won’t be startting for them. The best he can hope for then is to be on the bench.

  • Matt_Us says:

Sadly, that’s right! But this complement is accepted, all the same!
