Yeates In U-Turn

Colchester United winger Mark Yeates has made a dramatic U-turn by committing his immediate future to the club.

Yeates, 23, was all set to join Crystal Palace last months, only to fail his medical at Selhurst Park. A long-standing shoulder injury, first picked up in February, was cited as the reason.

However, Yeates, who has also been linked with moves to Watford and Nottingham Forest, now seems to be content on helping the U’s win promotion at the first attempt.

He told the Irish Sun: ‘I am disappointed that the deal has fallen through because the injury has taken longer than expected to heal. But these things happen in football and you have to get on with it.

‘I am looking forward to next season and I hope to start it in the same fashion as last year.

‘I want to play at the highest level possible and being relegated with Colchester was a huge disappointment. But I fully intend to help Colchester bounce straight back up.’

Good news but if he stays injury free and shows a bit of form I can’t help but think he will be gone in the January transfer window
