Club top scorer Mark Yeates admitted yesterday he wants fifteen goals this season.

The playmaker revealed his personal target after Colchester United`s recent poor form ended any outside hope of them making the play-offs. He needs to net three times, between now and the end of the season, to make it.

The Irishman scored one and made one over the weekend against Hereford, but still has the hunger to score more. He was Man of the Match and also made it into the week`s divisional team.

“It was nice to score from another free-kick,” said the youngster in the East Anglian Daily Times. “There was a possibility that Simon Hackney was going to float it into the box, but the gaffer has encouraged me to take them if I fancy them, and I’m not shy in having a shot!”

Yeates also said that he would try claiming the second goal, which was a deflected cross that found the back of the net.

The winger dedicated this victory, which ended an abysmal run for the side, to the club`s supporters.

Has been unlucky, must have hit the woodwork over 10 times this season. Not sure if he’ll be here next season. Up the U’s!
