Colchester United midfielder Mark Yeates believes all the rumours linking him with a move away from North Essex are ‘just talk’.

Speaking to My Football Writer, Yeatesy said: ‘It’s part of football isn’t it, I’m sure there’s been things in the paper about a few of the lads – myself included – but I don’t know, it’s just something you’ve got to get on with and put it aside.

‘Of course if there’s clubs interested or things being said in the paper about then you’re obviously doing something right, so as a player you’ve got to take it as a compliment but obviously you just take it as speculation as well.

‘Because until somebody actually gets on the phone or puts something in writing then all it is, is just talk.’

The 23-year-old who dislocated his shoulder in early February is on the road to recovery.

‘It’s been probably around three months since I had the operation and the last few weeks I’ve been running, doing weights on the shoulder and my exercises for the summer.

‘I think if I’d really pushed it I would have been able to make the last game of the season but with the way things were, it was more sensible just to leave it and let me continue with my rehab. But it’s coming on well,’ he revealed.

‘I haven’t been involved in any physical contact yet, most of the stuff I’ve been doing has been by myself in the gym.

‘I had a couple of days when I was involved in a bit of training, with shooting and passing around but with the physical contact stuff I’ve tried to just leave it as long as possible.’

The wing wizard continued: ‘So by the start of next season it’ll be coming up to nearly five months so it should be at full strength again. I’ll be ready for start of pre-season, joining in with everything so it’s all good.’

Yeah am confident he will, Palace, one of the teams tracking him, wont be in the Prem so can’t lure him with top-flight football. Please stay Yeatesy!
