Colchester United winger Mark Yeates looks set to leave the Weston Homes Community Stadium, with a move to Middlesbrough likely.

Intense transfer speculation in North Yorkshire claims Yeates will move to The Riverside, with medical due soon, for around £350,000, although some sources are saying £450,000. The news will come as little surprise to U’s fans, with rumours linking Yeates to the U’s exit-door flying around since the season’s finish.

The recently-relegated Premiership side look to have beat off stiff competition from fellow Championship outfit Bristol City, with Crystal Palace and Sheffield United also thought to have been keen.

Vital Colchester’s latest poll results showed U’s fans thought Yeates would go to Boro, to read the article, click here.

Yeates will be sorely missed. He was our top goalscorer and leading assists as well. The only player last season to really pose a threat to any team. Will be hard trying to replace him. Shame we have to let him go liek this really.
If or when Boro get promoted, he won’t feature in the team after that, and will be sold to a Championship team, just like Neil Danns.

Yeah, will be missed, although think we’re defiantly more balanced without him in the side. Dont think he’s Prem class, just a player to help get Boro back up.

Could it be Halfrod and Yeates on the same team for Sheffield United next eason?
