Goals from two wingers helped Colchester United end the season on a high note against Yeovil yesterday.

Top scorer Mark Yeates scored his thirteenth off the season while Ashley Vincent had already underlined his potential by when he opened the scoring moments earlier.

Although both goals could be attributed to goalkeeping errors, United did well to maintain their impressive away form by sealing another on-the-road win.

Manager Paul Lambert made several changes, although has insisted that most hates for next season have already been decided. It means, presumably, that many players yesterday turned out for the club for the last time.

One man sure to stay is Kem Izzet, who played game number 300 for the side. The slosest he came to scoring was through a defected attempted right on half-time.

United`s first-half dominance, typically, was from Yeates, whose manager both prised and chastised him in the full-time interview with BBC Essex. Lambert said his goal tally was impressive despite a general inconstancy of his performance levels.

For the opening goal, Yeates dummied the returning Terrell Forbes for his assist to Vincent. A low shot which might have been comfortably caught by on-loan Bristol City keeper Chris Weale instead for its way into the back of the net.

Within two minutes, Yeates went from provider to scorer as he beat Weale a second time. It eventually went in off the post.

U`s: Gerken, Maybury, Baldwin, Heath, Tierney, Yeates, Hammond, Izzet (Wordsworth 72), Hackney, Vincent (Jackson 55), Vernon (Platt 72).
