Aidy Boothroyd labelled new-boy David Prutton ‘a very good player’ following a fantastic 25-yard wonder goal just two minutes into his debut.
The 28-year-old former Nottingham Forest man penned a loan deal at the Weston Homes Community Stadium just hours before marking his U’s arrival with a contender for goal of the season. And rumours that a permenant deal was in the offing have proved true, with the U’s boss confirming this.
Boothroyd, speaking to BBC Essex, post-match, explained: ‘The plan is to make it permanent. He’s a very good player, he’s been there and done it.’
A full-time move is likely to go through in the next few days, although Prutton will not be able to face parent club Leeds United on Saturday.
‘In a team that’s growing we’ve got to have people in the dressing room and out on the pitch who can lead,’ Boothroyd added.
