John Ward has challenged Anthony Wordsworth to take Colchester United to the championship by sheer goal-power.
The U`s boss was speaking this week, following the first round of league games which saw the Essex side face Exeter City and the midfielder score a double.
“I`ve challenged him to get fifteen – and then I might get some good money for him, if he moves into the Championship. But if he goes get fifteen, he might take me with him and that`s the challenge that he`s got, so he`s got thirteen more to get. ” said Ward.
Wordsworth ended last season in double figures for the club, starting term as largely a substitute under now Norwich boss Paul Lambert and enjoying an elevation to almost automatic first-team selection since then.
“He`s a smashing kid with a super left foot. He`s got something to live up to,” Ward explained.
