Colchester’s survival hopes took a major blow on Saturday as our League 1 relegation rivals Crawley not only went away from the Weston Homes Community Stadium with the points, after a three-two win, but also further damaged our chances of staying up whilst boosting their own!

Szmodics (11) continued to build his reputation, to get us off to a great start, with a fine strike early on but it wasn’t long before Crawley were level when Dickson (15) was left with a simple finish to make it one-one.

Crawley came from behind to lead at half time when Tomlin (41) scored just before the break but minutes into the second half though it was all-square again when Fox (49) fired home a freekick to make it two-two!

Crawley had the chance to win it when McLeod was fouled by ‘keeper Walker and it was McLeod (75) who made no mistake to convert what proved to be the winning goal with 15-minutes to play.
