Colchester United have accepted an offer of £400,000 offer for defender Wayne Brown, say BBC Humberside.

The bid comes just 24 hours after the player claimed that his “head and heart” were not longer with the club.

Brown, 29 and vice-capitan, first publicly stated his desire to leave Layer Road last Wednesday, although it had been known on the terraces that he was unhappy with the new deal that the club had offered to supersede the one that expires next summer.

It now seems inevitable that Brown will join ex-team-mate Richard Garcia at the KC Stadium; he will be sorely missed by all in Colchester and should go on to do well for his new club.

Brown appeared 159 for the U`s during two different spells, including playing in every match last season.

400,000? might as well of raped us aswell. who do you think will replace him?? i think connolly needs more experience to replace someone who played every minute last season

  • Deeno says:

Well he could have festered in the reserves all year and gone for nowt next summer, not bad business really.

I’ve no idea who will replace him. So we will have more signings, for sure?

festered in the reserves? bit over the top. he would have still been a main feature in the line-up but i guess your right about business. anyone you’d like to see replace him???

Well not quite £600,000 but that will help. George will hopefully get anuva striker and defender wen they get back from Ireland.

  • Deeno says:

Maybe harsh but I dont see why anyone who does not want to play should upset the balance of the first team.
