Colchester skipper Karl Duguid has reafirmed his committment to the club, something fans were never in doubt.

Duguid 29 and Colchester’s longest-serving player, was reported to be unhappy at new-signing Teddy Sheringham’s supposed high wages.

Duguid has however denied the rumours, telling the EADT: ‘It’s all lies. There’s no way I’m leaving Colchester.’

He said: ‘It couldn’t be further from the truth. I haven’t asked for a transfer, and it’s of no concern to me how much Teddy Sheringham is being paid. I don’t mind one little bit.

‘I was a Tottenham fan as a youngster, so it will be a pleasure to be in the same side as Teddy.’

When asked about these rumours at last weeks press conference, Teddy Sheringham said that he had heard the same rumours and that Duguid was the first person he spoke to at the club and it was important to ensure that he was happy and staying on.
